First Muslim mayor of Kolkata since Independence

Firhad Hakim, Minister of Municipal Affairs, West Bengal has become the first Muslim Mayor of Kolkata since Independence.
He was chosen as the 29th Mayor of the city, defeating Meena Devi Purohit.
