- President of India Ram Nath Kovind inaugurated the first ever North East Development Summit (NEDS) 2017 was held in Imphal, Manipur.
- It was organised by Delhi-based think tank India Foundation in collaboration with Union Government and Manipur government.
- The main objective of this summit was to showcase the economic potential and to attract investments in food processing, bamboo industry, real estate and other businesses within the North East Indian states.
- It also aimed at building confidence and altering perception among visiting delegates and investors.
