- In a pioneering step, the first-ever public information portal called “Jan Soochna” has been launched in Rajasthan.
- It is in compliance with Section 4(2) of the RTI Act (proactive disclosure of information).
- As per this section, the portal promises to provide information about government authorities and departments “suo motu” to the public.
- It will initially give information pertaining to 13 departments.
- The portal brings yet another distinction to Rajasthan, where the RTI movement had started in 1990s.
