- India’s ace sprinter and Asian Games gold-medallist sprinter Hima Das was appointed as the first ever youth ambassador of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) India.
- It was announced by the UNICEF on the occasion of Children's Day (November 14).
- The UNICEF India works with the central government to ensure that each child born in the country gets best start in life, thrives and develops to his or her full potential.
