- The three-day annual Flamingo Festival was held at Pulicat lake and Nelapattu Bird Sanctuary.
- Flamingo Festival is being organised for the past 12 years.
- Nearly 80 varieties of birds like flamingos, which arrive from as far off as Siberia and the Rann of Kutch in Gujarat, were present in the lake.
