  • The Supreme Court declined Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR)'s request to direct the Election Commission (EC) to upload polling station-wise voter turnout data during the ongoing Lok Sabha elections.
  • It stated that there is no legal mandate to provide Form 17C to any person other than the candidate or their agent.
  • The Form 17C from the Conduct of Election Rules, 1961, records a multitude of data,
    • Electors assigned to each booth
    • Number of registered voters in the area
    • Number of voters who decided not to vote
    • Number of voters not allowed to vote
    • Number of votes recorded (data from the EVM)
    • If the number of votes recorded is equal to number of voters minus those who did not vote
    • Data about ballot papers (received, issued, and not used/returned)
    • Data about paper seals (numbers issued/used/returned).
