Renowned social worker Shobhana Ranade, who met Gandhi when she was 18, passed away recently.
She had dedicated her life to uplifting the underprivileged, especially women and children.
She was awarded with the Padma Bhushan in 2011.
She played a role in setting up the Gandhi National Memorial Society (GNMS) and a National Institute for Training Women at the Aga Khan Palace in Pune in 1979.
