India and the USA have extended their Memorandum of Understanding for cooperation on the Global Centre for Nuclear Energy Partnership (GCNEP) by 10 years.
The GCNEP is a research and development institute in Haryana under the aegis of the Department of Atomic Energy.
It aims to strengthen India's cooperation with the international community.
It was originally signed on November 2010.
The extension of the MoU was agreed during the 3rd US-India 2+2 Ministerial Dialogue held in New Delhi.
2+2 is a dialogue mechanism between two countries’ defence and external affairs ministries.
India has established the 2+2 dialogue with Japan and the USA.
The USA and India signed the landmark Indo-US nuclear cooperation agreement in 2008.
