- This report is released by the Geneva-based World Intellectual Property Organization.
- India holds the 39th position in the Global Innovation Index (GII) 2024
- The country now ranked first among the 38 lower-middle-income economies.
- The index evaluates the innovation performance of around 133 global economies.
- It was 81st position in 2015.
- India has also secured the 4th position in the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Science and Technology (S&T) Cluster Ranking.
- China reached the 11th position and remains the only middle-income economy in the top 30.
- Switzerland, Sweden, the United States, Singapore, and the United Kingdom are the top rankers.
