- The new “Global Trade Outlook and Statistics” report estimates real global GDP growth at market exchange rates of 2.4% for 2023.
- It was released by the World Trade Organization.
- The value of world merchandise trade rose 12% to US$ 25.3 trillion in 2022.
- The value of world commercial services trade increased 15% in 2022 to US$ 6.8 trillion.
- Projections for both trade and output growth are below the averages for the past 12 years of 2.6% and 2.7% respectively.
- India ranked 18th in terms of exports of commodities and was the 9th importer of global merchandise goods trade worldwide.
- In terms of commercial service exports, India came in 7th place with USD 313 billion, or 4.4 per cent of the global total.
- Imports stood at USD 263 billion, or 4% of all commercial services imported globally.
