Goa’s Khola Chilli Gets GI Tag

  • The famous Khola Chilli or Kholchi Mirchi that’s being grown on the hills of Khola village of Goa has received the Geographical Indication (GI) tag.
  • GI tags are issued by the Geographical Indications Registry of India.
  • Khola Chilli is the first agriculture produce of the state to get the GI tag.
  • A Geographical Indication is a form of Intellectual Property Rights which is used for indicating and preserving the originality of the product of the particular territory.
