The famous Khola Chilli or Kholchi Mirchi that’s being grown on the hills of Khola village of Goa has received the Geographical Indication (GI) tag.
GI tags are issued by the Geographical Indications Registry of India.
Khola Chilli is the first agriculture produce of the state to get the GI tag.
A Geographical Indication is a form of Intellectual Property Rights which is used for indicating and preserving the originality of the product of the particular territory.
