Govt. reconstitutes a Multi-Agency Group to investigate Paradise Papers

Recently, ICIJ has released a document named Paradise papers which is mainly gathered from Aplleby, an offshore law firm.
The Paradise Papers are set of 13.4 million documents pertaining to tax evasion and offshore investment activities of some of the world’s most powerful people and companies from 180 countries.
The government reconstituted a Multi-Agency Group led by the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) chairman to investigate cases relating to the ‘Paradise Papers’ data disclosure.
Earlier this Multi Agency Group was formed to investigate cases related to Panama leaks.
The International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ), and its Indian Partner The Indian Express has released this document.
Among 180 countries represented in the data, India ranks 19th in terms of the number of names that feature in the papers.
