Group for fixing minimum wages

- The Union Labour and Employment Ministry had set up an expert group for fixing minimum wages and national floor minimum wages.
- The group, set up for three years, would be chaired by Professor Ajit Mishra, director of the Institute of Economic Growth.
- The decision is part of the Centre’s implementation of the Code on Wages, 2019.
- Code on Wages, 2019 mandates a statutory national level floor wage.
