- Handri-Neeva water canal project links the Handri river originating from Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh to the Neeva river in chittoor district through Anantapur and kadapa districts.
- The water canal project named Handri-Neeva Sujala Sravanthi project, which is being implemented by Andhra Pradesh CM, is expected to rise the ground water level in the forest areas of Tamil Nadu, bordering Andhra Pradesh.
- This project was a long term dream of N.T.Rama Rao
- This project will increase water levels in forests of Koundinya Wildlife Sanctuary. The canal will lead to increase in ground water levels in reserve forests of Pernambut, Aambur, Tirupathur and other places of border district Vellore. Furthermore, the agricultural lands in tamilnadu, bordering these forests will also get prosperity.
- The project canals can also feed by gravity the Tungabhdra high level canal and many other medium & minor tanks in Pennar River basin to provide drinking water during severe droughts.
