The Indian Meteorological Department has announced that months of March, April and May are to be warmer than normal.
Average maximum temperatures are likely to be warmer than normal by 0.5 degree Celsius over most of the meteorological subdivisions from central India and some subdivisions from north-west India.

According to the World Meteorological Organization, a Heat wave occurs when the daily maximum temperature of 5 consecutive days exceeds average maximum temperature by 5 degrees Celsius.
During a heat wave, the weather is excessively hot and also highly humid.
