- North Korea successfully launched a new type of nuclear-capable intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) named Hwasong-15.
- Hwasong-15 is the ‘greatest ICBM’ that could be armed with a ‘super-large heavy nuclear warhead’ capable of striking the ‘whole mainland’ of the United States of America.
- It was North Korea’s 20 th launch of a ballistic missile this year and third successful test of an ICBM in the recent antagonism between America and North Korea.
- The ICBM was launched from near South Pyongan Province, Pyongyang and It is the first time a missile was fired from this location.
- It accurately destroyed its target which is fixed in the Japan’s Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) in Sea of Japan.
