IAF’s conquer ‘Seven Summits’

  • An expert team of Indian Air Force (IAF) mountaineers led by Capt R C Tripathi has returned after successfully hoisting the Indian Tricolor and the IAF flag on Mount Vinson, the highest peak of Antarctica.
  • Before Mt Vinson, different teams of the Air Force had summited Mt Everest (Asia), Mt Carstenz Pyramid (Indonesia- Australasia continent), Mt Elbrus (Russia-Europe), Mt Kilimanjaro (Africa), Mt Aconcagua (Argentina-South America), Mt McKinley/Denali (Alaska-North America) over the last two decades.

  • IAF becomes first defense body to summit all major seven peaks across seven continents.
  • The IAF Mission Seven Summits was launched in 2008 with an aim to hoist the National Tricolour on the highest mountains of all seven continents.
