  • Researchers at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) have developed a nano material-based solution to address heavy metal contamination in water.
  • The team has developed an innovative nanomaterial that could help clean up chromium-contaminated groundwater.
  • The material is called ‘sulphidated' carboxymethyl cellulose-stabilised nanoscale zero-valent iron (S-CMC-nZVI).
  • It has shown remarkable efficiency in removing hexavalent chromium, a toxic form of the metal, from water.
