Impeachment of Allahabad HC judge

  • Chief Justice of India (CJI) Dipak Misra has recommended the impeachment of Justice Shri Narayan Shukla,   judge of the Allahabad High Court, following an adverse investigation report about him by an in-house panel set up by the CJI.
  • He has allowed  the  blacklisted private medical colleges in Lucknow to carry out  the admission process.
  • Which made him to come under the Impeachment scanner.
  • A judge of High court and Supreme Court can be removed by the order of the President.
  • The President can issue the removal order only after the Parliament’s Comprehensive impeachment process  on the alleged one.
  • The grounds of removal are two- proven misbehavior and incapacity.
  • The Judges Enquiry Act, 1968 regulates the procedure relating to the removal of judge.
