Lok Sabha Speaker, Sumitra Mahajan inaugurated the 6th India region Commonwealth Parliamentary Association conference at Patna in Bihar.
The conference held discussions mainly on two topics,
'Parliament's role in the development agenda'
'Legislature and Judiciary - Two Important Pillars of Democracy'
India region CPA conferences are held once in two years. The 5th Conference was held in 2015 in Goa.

The Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA), previously known as the Empire Parliamentary Association, is an organisation which works to support good governance, democracy and human rights.
It is divided into nine regions – Africa, Asia, Australia, British Islands and Mediterranean, Canada, Caribbean, Americas and Atlantic, India, Pacific and South-East Asia.
The India region of CPA consists of the India Union Branch (Parliament of India) and 31 State/Union Territory branches.
