An Oxford University study has revealed that Indians used zero in the third century. The study is based on a manuscript dated back to 3rd Century.
Scientists have discovered evidence of the symbol in the Indian Bakhshali manuscript – a mathematical text discovered in present day Pakistan’s bakshali region. Carbon dating indicates that the manuscript dates from as early as the 3rd century, making it the world's oldest recorded origin of the zero symbol
Previous studies predicted that Indians used zero since 8th century.
