• A group of seven Indian students has bagged two awards at the first global robotics Olympiad in Washington D.C., US where 157 countries participated.
• The students, who hail from Mumbai, won gold for Zhang Heng Engineering Design Award and bronze for Global Challenge Match at the international robotics challenge organised by FIRST Global in Washington.
• The Indian team was led by 15-year-old Rahesh, the youngest member of the group.
• The ‘bot’ prepared by Indian team was called ‘neutrino’.

‘FIRST Global’ Robotics Challenge
• FIRST Global is a not-for-profit charity that organizes a yearly international robotics challenge to ignite a passion for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) among more than two billion youths across the world.
• It provides the framework for an Olympics-style robotics challenge where one team from every nation is invited to participate in a global robotics event.
• ‘FIRST Global Challenge 2017’ organised in Washington D.C. was the inaugural edition of this robotics Olympiad in which 157 countries participated.
• The event will be held in different nations each year.
• Mexico City in Mexico would host the competition next year.
