India's 11th Antarctic Expedition

- The South African oceanographic research vessel SA Agulhas has started its journey to Antarctic Ocean from Port Louis (Mauritius).
- This is the 11th expedition of an Indian mission to the Southern Ocean, or Antarctic Ocean.
- The first mission took place between January and March 2004.
- The data’s given by this expedition crew will be analysed through National Centre for Polar and Ocean Research (NCOPR) in Goa.
- NCOPR works under the Ministry of Earth Sciences.
- Currently, the research vessel was located at Prydz Bay, in the coastal waters of “Bharati”.
- Bharati is India’s third station in Antarctica.
- Other two station are Dakshin Gangotri and Maitri.
