India’s first air-conditioned suburban train service

India’s first broad gauge air-conditioned (AC) EMU suburban train was flagged off from Borivali station on western railway in Mumbai, Maharashtra.
The train, operated by the Western Railway (WR), began its journey from the Borivili station to Churchgate in South Mumbai.
The first of its kind air-conditioned suburban local train fitted with an indigenous three-phase propulsion system." was brought to Mumbai from the Integral Coach Factory, Chennai.
It is also equipped with GPS-based passenger information system with audio-visual indication of stations for guard-driver and passenger communication.
