  • India's first female calf is born using embryo transplant technology.
  • The project was supervised by the Department of Animal Husbandry, Jammu in collaboration with the National Dairy Development Board.
  • The calf of 'Sahiwal' breed was born to a crossbreed Jersey cow at the Central Cattle Breeding & Research Farm.
  • Embryo transfer is a process of transferring an embryo from the reproductive tract of a donor female to a uterus of a female recipient with intent to establish a pregnancy. This technique is used for both humans and animals.
