India’s first filament bulb-free panchayat

- The Pilicode grama panchayat in Kasaragod has become the first filament bulb-free grama panchayat in the nation.
- The panchayat made this rare achieved by replacing all the filament bulbs by LED bulbs under its unique project ‘Oorja Yaanam scheme’, which aims to make the panchayat energy efficient
- The project was implemented with the support of Energy Management Centre (EMC) of the State government, which enforces the Energy Conservation Act, 2001.
- Last year, Pilicode panchayat won the State energy conservation award, instituted by the State Energy Management Centre (EMC).
