India's first paperless election - Madhya Pradesh

  • In a first, the Madhya Pradesh State Election Commission has successfully conducted paperless voting at a booth in a panchayat by poll in Bhopal.
  • The Paperless booths have been planned for the purpose of conducting a simple, smooth and transparent voting process in panchayats and urban bodies.
  • In this paperless process, voters' signatures and thumb impressions are recorded electronically to ensure accurate identity verification and voting records.
  • The voting percentage and ballot accounting are also being done online.
  • After the voting ends, the ballot accounting will also be provided to the candidates and polling agents via email.
