  • Search engine giant, Google, paid homage to India's first woman photojournalist, Homai Vyarawalla, with a doodle on her 104th birth anniversary.
  • Homai Vyarawalla who carved a place for her in photojournalism during the pre-independence era, started her career as a photojournalist during the onset of World War II
  • Her first published pictures were in the 'Bombay Chronicle' and Majority of her works were published under the name of Dalda 13.
  • Her pictures include the first tricolour-hoisting after the Independence, Lord Mountbatten departing from India and Jawaharlal Nehru addressing the crowd after the Independence.
  • She was awarded with the second highest civilian award Padma Vibhushan in 2011.
