Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) has been awarded the project to build India’s first multimodal logistics park (MMLP) in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
Under the National Logistics Policy (NLP) and PM-Gati Shakti, it wants to bring down logistics costs to under 10 per cent of the GDP (from the current 14%) in a bid to make exports competitive and supply chains more efficient.
India’s first MMLP is being set up in Mappedu village in Thiruvallur district.
It is located near the automobile and electronics manufacturing clusters on the Sriperumbudur-Oragadam industrial belt.
