- Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) has been awarded the project to build India’s first multimodal logistics park (MMLP) in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
- Under the National Logistics Policy (NLP) and PM-Gati Shakti, it wants to bring down logistics costs to under 10 per cent of the GDP (from the current 14%) in a bid to make exports competitive and supply chains more efficient.
- India’s first MMLP is being set up in Mappedu village in Thiruvallur district.
- It is located near the automobile and electronics manufacturing clusters on the Sriperumbudur-Oragadam industrial belt.
