- India’s first private biosphere, called the Rajaji Raghati Biosphere (RRB) Situated adjoining the Rajaji National Park in Uttarakhand was created by two individuals.
- In 1983, Rajaji National Park was created after merging the three wildlife sanctuaries of Uttarakhand – Rajaji, Motichur and Chilla.
- They are also working on a second biosphere atop the Western Ghats: above the Koyna River in the buffer zone of the Sahyadri Tiger Reserve near Pune, Maharashtra.
