Interest rates on small savings schemes

- The Government raised the interest rate for the Senior Citizen Savings Scheme by 20 basis points (bps), or from 7.4 to 7.6%.
- For the Monthly Income Account Scheme, it was by 10 bps, or from 6.6 to 6.7.
- The interest rate on savings deposits will continue to be 4 per cent per annum.
- Also, the following three schemes remains unchanged.
- The Public Provident Fund (PPF) will fetch 7.1 per cent.
- The National Savings Certificate yields 6.8 per cent.
- Rates on the girl child savings scheme Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana are 7.6 per cent.
