- The theme for 2022 is Early Warning.
- It will focus on Target of the Sendai Framework: “Substantially increase the availability of and access to multi-hazard early warning systems and disaster risk information and assessments to people by 2030.”
- It was started in 1989, after a call by the United Nations General Assembly.
- In 2015, Sendai Framework was released at the Third UN World Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction in Sendai, Japan.
