- On December 9, 1948, the United Nations adopted the first human rights treaty, the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide (the “Genocide Convention”).
- 2022 marks its 74th anniversary.
- The UNGA with a resolution in 2015 adopted this day.
