Every year on 21st of March is to be observed as the International Day of Forests.
It aims to raise awareness of the importance of forests to people and their vital role in poverty eradication, environmental sustainability, and food security.
International Day of Forests was established on the 21st day of March, by resolution of the United Nations General Assembly on November 28, 2012.
International Day of Forests was observed for the first time on March 21, 2013.
The theme of this year observance is “Forests and Education”.
