- This day also acknowledges the formation of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), the global organization of parliaments, that was established in 1889.
- The IPU has permanent observer status at the United Nations General Assembly
- And it is Headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland.
- In 2022, the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) and its Member Parliaments will mark this day under the theme of ‘public engagement in the work of Parliament’.
