- The first International Day of Peace was celebrated on September 21, 1982.
- It aims to remind of the UN's commitment to peace and conflict resolution and encourages individuals, communities and nations to work towards a more peaceful and just world.
- This year’s theme is ‘Actions for Peace: Our Ambition for the #GlobalGoals’.
- 2023 is also the 75th anniversaries of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of Genocide.
