- The International Day of Rural Women is observed every year on October 15 to recognize the crucial role and contribution of rural women.
- The theme for the year 2018 is “Sustainable infrastructure, services and social protection for gender equality and the empowerment of rural women and girls”.
- The International Day of Rural Women was instituted by the UN General Assembly (UNGA) by passing resolution in December 2007.
- It was first observed on15 October 2008.
