International Day of the Celebration of the Solstice - June 21

  • This day bring awareness about solstices and equinoxes and their significance for several religions and ethnic cultures.
  • There are two solstices that occur annually.
  • It happens twice yearly, once in each hemisphere (Northern and Southern).
  • They are
    • “Summer Solstice” - the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere and shortest day on the southern hemisphere - June 21
    • “Winter Solstice” - the shortest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere and longest day on the Southern hemisphere - December 21.
