- The markhor (Capra falconeri) is an iconic and ecologically significant species found across the mountainous regions of Central and South Asia.
- The region includes Afghanistan, India, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
- The markhor was categorized as “near threatened” in IUCN Red List.
