  • The International Day of the Disappeared is a day created to draw attention to the fate of individuals imprisoned at places and under poor conditions unknown to their relatives and/or legal representatives.
  • It is observed on August 30 of each year.
  • The day was established by the UN General Assembly on December 21, 2010.
  • The day also allows states to consider the fulfilment of their obligations under the International Convention for the Protection of All Persons from Enforced Disappearance (the Convention).
