- Day originated after a tragic incident occurred in Linton town of Australia, on December 2, 1998.
- 4 May is also Saint Florian's Day.
- Saint Florian is the patron saint of firefighters.
- He was said to be one of the first commanding firefighters of an actual Roman battalion and saved many lives.
