The second International Translation Day was observed by United Nations on 30 September 2018.
The day recognizes the contribution of unsung heroes behind international diplomacy who work as language professionals to facilitate dialogue and contribute to development and strengthens world peace and security.
The International Translation Day was instituted by UN General Assembly (UNGA) in May 2017 by adopting a resolution.
The date 30 September was chosen to celebrate feast of Bible translator St Jerome, who is considered as patron saint of translators.
