- Indian Ocean “Wave” exercises are held every two years under the auspices and coordination of the following institutions:
- UNESCO’s Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission,
- Intergovernmental Coordination Group of the Indian Ocean Tsunami Warning and Mitigation System (ICG/IOTMWS) and
- Indian Ocean Information Centre (IOTIC).
- Indian Tsunami Early Warning Centre (ITEWC) participated in this exercise as its capacity as National Tsunami Warning Centre for India and also Tsunami Service Provider for the entire Indian Ocean Region.
