IREDA and TANGEDCO

- The Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency (IREDA) has entered into a pact with Tamil Nadu Generation & Distribution Corporation (TANGEDCO).
- It is for providing technical expertise in developing of renewable energy projects and raising of funds.
- The Tangedco has planned to augment its renewable energy sources by 25,000 MW in the next 10 years.
- This includes 20000 MW solar energy, 3000 MW of hydro power and 2000 MW electricity generated by gas turbines.
- Its own generation from thermal power stations is only 4320 MW as against the average demand of 15,000 MW.
