  • The soldiers of Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) were the first to cast their vote for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections in Arunachal Pradesh as Service Voters.
  • The first vote of the country was cast by DIG Sudhakar Natarajan, head of ATS ITBP.
  • Service voters belonging to defence and paramilitary forces have the option of either voting through postal ballot or through a proxy voter duly appointed by him/her.
Service Voters
  • A wife of a service voter will be enrolled as a service voter but not a son or daughter.
  • The following category of people are deemed to be service voters.
Member of Armed Forces
Member of Assam Rifles, CRPF, BSF, ITBF, GREF in Border Roads Organization and Central Industrial Security Force.
Employed by the Government of India in a post outside India.
Member of an armed police force of a state, and serving outside that state.
