- The dam is one of the biggest in Europe, was holding nearly 18 cubic-kilometres of water.
- The Kakhovka Dam completed in 1956 on the Dnieper River (also known as Dnipro) in Kherson Oblast, Ukraine.
- The primary purposes of the dam were hydroelectric power generation, irrigation and navigation.
