- TN government announced the Kalaimamani awards after a gap of eight years since 2011.
- Kalaimani Awards are given to the actors, dancers, writers, musician and singers for their contribution towards the Tamil culture.
- This time 201 artistes will be honoured with this award including Vijay Sethupathi, Karthi and Prabhu dheva.
- It was also announced the ‘Bharathi’ awards in the field of literature, ‘MS Subbulakshmi award’ in music and ‘Bala Saraswathi award’ in dance.
- For the MS Subbulakshmi award, singers S.Janaki, the Bombay sisters C.Saroja and C.Lalitha and TV Gopalakrishnan have been selected.
- Lyricist Pulamaipithan, veteran Villupattu artiste and lyricist Subbu Arumugam and writer-activist Sivasankari have been selected for the Bharathi award.
- Vyjayanthimala, VP Dhananjayan and CV Chandrasekhar have been selected for the Bala Saraswathi award.
