- The school education department has planned to implement a program called 'Karpom Eluthuvom Movement' (கற்போம் எழுதுவோம்) in Tamil Nadu.
- It aims to imparting basic literacy to the illiterate above the age of 15 years.
- The program will be implemented by the State Non-School and Adult Education Directorate.
- The project is to be implemented from November entirely by volunteers.
- According to the 2011 census, 1.24 crore people above the age of 15 are completely illiterate in Tamil Nadu.
