- President Ram Nath Kovind said the new government has decided to widen the spectrum of the 'Khelo India Programme' to cover the entire country.
- He announced this during his address in the joint sitting of the two houses of parliament.
- Under this programme 2,500 talented players have been selected and are being trained.
- An additional 2,500 players would get the same facility every year.
Khelo India Games
- It aims to is to revive the sports culture in India at the grass-root level.
- It is an annual event. First edition – 2018 Delhi; Second edition – 2019 Pune
- 1000 players will be selected from Khelo India Games and will be given 5 Lakh rupees scholarship per year for the next 8 years.
